{"id":1907,"date":"2015-01-18T19:18:53","date_gmt":"2015-01-19T01:18:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.velocity-xl.com\/blog\/?p=1907"},"modified":"2015-01-18T19:18:53","modified_gmt":"2015-01-19T01:18:53","slug":"13-6-1-battery-hold-down","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.velocity-xl.com\/blog\/2015\/01\/18\/13-6-1-battery-hold-down\/","title":{"rendered":"13.6.1 Battery Hold-Down"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"pps-series-post-details pps-series-post-details-variant-classic pps-series-post-details-4068\" data-series-id=\"37\"><div class=\"pps-series-meta-content\"><div class=\"pps-series-meta-text\">This entry is part 49 of 67 in the series <a href=\"https:\/\/www.velocity-xl.com\/blog\/series\/13-electrical-instrumentation\/\">13 - Electrical \/ Instruments<\/a><\/div><\/div><\/div><p>The battery that I have been using is a used one which came out of another airplane.\u00a0 The dimensions are pretty standard so I used it as a template when I was building the battery tray.<\/p>\n<p>It was a standard flooded cell, lead\/acid battery.\u00a0 And the cover plate was also the hold down strap.<\/p>\n<p>But I decided on a sealed battery.\u00a0 Which means that I don&#8217;t have to worry about putting in an overflow drain.\u00a0 But the new battery doesn&#8217;t have an intergated hold-down.\u00a0 So it&#8217;s fabrication time again.<\/p>\n<p>The battery has these two little&#8230; tabs sticking up.\u00a0 I could have just gone over top of those but I was worried that pressing down on those would cause trouble in the future. So instead of using flat plate, I used\u00a0I picked up some 3\/4&#8243; square stock and cut it to length and notched the square stock.
