Numbers that are just too low&#8230; sometimes. I knew the charging system was working, it was just the current reading from the EIS\/EFIS.<\/p>\n<p>Checked everything that I could think of but couldn&#8217;t find a culprit.<\/p>\n<p>I called Grand Rapids and Eric had me check some things out. Everything checked.\u00a0 Then he said &#8220;grab the wires at the sensor and give them a tug.&#8221;\u00a0 Say what???\u00a0 But I did it and they pulled free of the sensor with very little effort.<\/p>\n<p>Turns out that GRT had a guy making these sensors and the way he would attach the wires to the pins was to lay the wire next to the pin, slide some heat shrink tubing over it and heat it up. They thought that they had tracked down all the sensors that were incorrectly assembled but it looks like mine slipped by.<\/p>\n<p>They sent me two replacements but I thought that I could solder the wires on the primary alternator output easier than I could replace it so I gave it a go.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.velocity-xl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMG_20160604_103000873.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-3546\" src=\"https:\/\/www.velocity-xl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMG_20160604_103000873-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_20160604_103000873\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Fired up the engine and EIS\/EFIS were showing good readings.\u00a0 When I get some time,\u00a0 I&#8217;ll swap out the sensor on the secondary alternator B lead.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"pps-series-post-details pps-series-post-details-variant-classic pps-series-post-details-4068 pps-series-meta-excerpt\" data-series-id=\"37\"><div class=\"pps-series-meta-content\"><div class=\"pps-series-meta-text\">This entry is part 64 of 67 in the series <a href=\"https:\/\/www.velocity-xl.com\/blog\/series\/13-electrical-instrumentation\/\">13 - Electrical \/ Instruments<\/a><\/div><\/div><\/div><p>I&#8217;ve been getting some wonky current readings lately.
